John Mayall: Jammin' with the Blues Greats 1982

John Mayall: Jammin' with the Blues Greats 1982

One hot night in June 1982 at New Jersey's Capitol Theater, John Mayall and the Bluesbreakers, featuring Mick Taylor (Rolling Stones) on lead guitar, John McVie (Fleetwood Mac) on bass, and Colin Allen (of Rod Stewart's band) on drums, paid homage to and were joined by five blues immortals: Albert King, Etta James, Buddy Guy, Junior Wells, and the 83-year-old Sippie Wallace. Each of the blues greats were backed by the Bluesbreakers, resulting in some amazing musical moments. Awesome is the only word to describe the guitar jams among Albert King, Buddy Guy, and Mick Taylor.

Gary Moore - Blues for Jimi (2007)
Hey Joe, a-where you goin' with that gun in your hand
Hey Joe, I said where you goin' with that gun in your hand, oh yeah
I'm going down to shoot my old lady
You know I caught her messin' around with another man, yeah
I'm going down to shoot my old lady
You know I caught her messin' around with another man, huh
And that ain't too cool brother
Hey Joe, I heard you shot your woman down,
You shot her down, now
Hey Joe, I heard you shot your old lady down,
You shot her down to the ground, yeah
Yes I did, I shot her
You know I caught her messin' round, messin' round town
Yes I did, I shot her
You know I caught my old lady messin' around town
And I gave her the gun I SHOT HER!
Alright Shoot her one more time again for me
Yeah, Ohhh dig it, Ah, Ah Alright
Hey Joe, say now where you gonna run to now?
Where you gonna run to?
Hey Joe, I said where you gonna run to now?
Where you, where you gonna go?
Well, dig it
I'm goin' way down south,
Way down to Mexico way Alright
I'm goin' way down south,
Way down where I can be free
Ain't no one gonna find me
Ain't no hangman gonna,
He ain't gonna put a rope around me
You better believe it right now
I gotta go now
Hey, Hey Joe, you better run on down
Good by everybody ohh
Hey Joe, uhh
Run on down

INFO: A Hard Road is the third album (and second studio album) recorded by John Mayall & the Bluesbreakers released in 1967. It features Peter Green on lead guitar, John McVie on bass, Aynsley Dunbar on drums and John Almond. Tracks 5, 7 and 13 feature the horn section of Alan Skidmore and Ray Warleigh. Peter Green sings lead vocals on "You Don't Love Me" and "The Same Way." The notable instrumental track "The Supernatural", a guitar improvisation in the key of D minor, has much in common with Peter Green's later hit composition "Black Magic Woman".
The album reached #8 on the U.K. Album Charts which is Mayall's third biggest chart next to "Bare Wires" and "Bluesbreakers with Eric Clapton" which reached #3 and #6, respectively.
The cover art and the original LP sleeve design are by Mayall.

Blues Breakers is a 1966 blues album credited to John Mayall with Eric Clapton.
The album is also known as Beano because of its cover photograph showing Clapton reading The Beano, a British children's comic. Clapton stated in his autobiography that he was reading Beano on the cover because he felt like being "uncooperative" during the photo shoot.

"Sweet Home Chicago" (Buddy Guy, Eric Clapton, Johnny Winter, Robert Cray, Hubert Sumlin...)

"Sweet Home Chicago" (Buddy Guy, Eric Clapton, Johnny Winter, Robert Cray, Hubert Sumlin...)

"Sweet Home Chicago" is a popular blues standard in the twelve bar form. It was first recorded and is credited to have been written by Robert Johnson. Over the years the song has become one of the most popular anthems for the city of Chicago despite ambiguity in Johnson's original lyrics.
